Here in the mid-west, it gets cold! When I began looking for sweaters for my doxies, I found that there are plenty of generic small dog sweaters out there. But, none that fit the doxies' unique shape. So, I set about the task of drafting a sweater that would fit them specifically. Fortunately, I have two fit models :)
I concentrated on a good fit with plenty of coverage. All edges are bound, so there are no rough seams. My heavy winter sweaters have a fleece lining and a turtleneck that comes up to the ears. The neckline closely follows that of the breed, so a harness will fit comfortably over the sweater. I do not include a hole for the harness, as choices vary widely and it would be impossible to locate correctly.
I recycle nice quality human sweaters, so each DoxieWear sweater is one or two of a kind. I use new fleece for the lining. I take the time to knot and glue ends, as well as baste and tack as necessary. I have 35 years of sewing experience and have been drafting for about 25 years. So, I am putting my experience to use in providing a warm, comfy sweater for your elongated buddy. You want your pal to be warm and so do I!
